Captain Bly's VCO Transmitter #1, circa 2001. Stable Free Running VCO in a temperature controlled oven. Picture shows VCO (with Freq set dial), 5 watt amplifier, mp3 player, cooling fan and the transmit controller in a self contained cabinet. Not shown is the power supply that sits in the cabinet bottem. Cap't Bly states: "I never have to adjust the frequency as it always stays within 5 khz, going on over 4 years now. Not too shabby! The oscillator and buffer are on 24/7 but the output, when the unit is off the air, goes into a load and not to the final stage." |
