| Andrew K. is a third year student at UC Santa Cruz that frequently broadcast on the FM band using his home built station. Andrew says; "the transmitter was a kit, and it works great. With help from my dad, who is a ham radio operator, I added a enclosure and a amplifier stage with a output of 750 mw. Now, from high in the Santa Cruz mountains, the station covers the campus, most of the town and the beach." He also says; "I use a mp3 player for the program source with each show on a 512 MB SD ram card. I have 3 cards currently with one card for Hip Hop, another for The Greatful Dead and the other for Roots Reggae, with each card having 7-8 hours of music. I update and rotate the wave files using Cool Edit Pro and then convert them to mp3. A big plus for me is that I also take and play request for the babes. Its been a blast!" |
